DIY Nightstand with Hidden Compartment, Drawer and Storage

how to price wood projects

A DIY nightstand is a great way to organize extra items if you have spare space or a place you can store them. With a few basic plans, you can create a functional storage unit for under your bed. A magnetic lock can be added to either or both of the compartments. After you have completed the project you can make it more personal by adding foam inserts to the top and bottom compartments.

A DIY nightstand made with drawers and a hidden compartment can be built.

First, cut the onex12 boards to make a DIY nightstand. Your side panels must be identically measured. They should fit together perfectly. You can mark the tenons on the sides of both boards to make sure that your drawers fit squarely. Then, glue the pieces together and secure with finish nails.

Ikea furniture is also a great option for creating a DIY nightstand. These furniture are flexible and easy to customize. You can also use these pieces for other purposes, such as books, and other items. These pieces are also known to be quite affordable, and you can easily replicate them if you have enough wood. You can also make them unique and custom-designed to fit your room's decor.

Install a deadbolt lock

A hidden compartment nightstand is a type of bedside table that has two drawers and is designed with bedroom security in mind. Because it has two compartments that are hidden beneath and above the main drawer, this nightstand can be used to secure valuables. Each compartment has its own access method, and both compartments are locked when they are closed. The nightstand appears normal from the outside.

For a magnetic lock to be installed, you will need to drill small holes in the top and bottom compartments of the nightstand. Once the hole is drilled, the magnetic lock should be placed in the center of the compartment's face. Push the magnet on the opposite end of the drawer to open it. A hidden magnetic lock can be purchased at hardware stores or online. This step can be done at your own discretion.

Add foam inserts for the top and/or bottom compartments

You can add two storage boxes to your nightstand to make it more spacious. The dimensions of the upper compartment are 13" x 2", and the bottom is 13 x 2.5". Both of these compartments have felt lined interiors. Hidden compartment nightstand plans have a two-step entry system. To add additional storage, foam inserts can also be added to either the top or bottom drawers.

What tools are best to begin with when I become a woodworker

Woodworking is an art that takes patience and practice. It takes time and practice to master the various techniques and tools required for woodworking.

There are many options for woodworking equipment today. Some prefer to use power tools, while others prefer to use hand tools.

The choice is yours, but you must ensure you choose the right tool for the job. A basic set of hand tools may be enough for you if your skills are not yet developed.

Another option is to learn how to use a router, which is used for cutting intricate shapes into wood. These routers can be purchased at most hardware and home improvement stores.

Where can I buy hardwood lumber?

You can buy hardwood lumber at Home Depot. You will find a range of wood products available at Home Depot.

There is also a wide selection of engineered hardwoods, including Ipe (Araucaria Angustifolia), Brazilian Cherry(Pau d'Arco), Mahogany (Swietenia Mcrophylla).

These woods can be found online by searching for "hardwood lumber" in Google.

How to make wood joints

This tutorial will demonstrate how to join two pieces together of wood. We will be using the "pocket-hole joint", which involves drilling holes in wood and then gluing them together. If your wood has a straight grain, smooth surface, you can use this method. Dowel joinery might be a better option if your wood is not straight or flat. Here are the steps

  1. Drill Pocket Hole Joints. Measure and mark the location where you would like to place the pocket hole joint. With a handheld drill machine or jig saw, drill 3/4-inch deep holes in the ends of each piece.
  2. Sand Smooth. Sanding the wood's edges will ensure that the joint doesn't split.
  3. Glue Together Apply glue to both ends of the wood. Allow it to cool for at least 5 minutes before you attach the pieces.
  4. Clamp the Pieces Together. After the glue has dried thoroughly, secure the pieces so that they are flush.
  5. Trim Joinery. Trimming the joinery after glue has completely dried.

Be sure to leave enough space between each piece so that they can be turned inside-out.
